A Voice of Experience

EP Motivating Force:

My goal is to grow this business not so much to increase revenues but to give back more -- we give 5% to childrens' charities. I also work in the summer with Camp Sunshine, and I will be in training next week to work with children in Hospice. I want it to be an ethical organization where everyone walks away from a completed project feeling good. I would also like to reduce my hours of work and achieve greater balance.

 

EP Musings:

My kids are 13 and 17, so being an EP Dad does not present the same problems as others with younger children. When my kids were younger it was hard for them to understand that they could not disturb me when I was on the phone, but they did. It was hard to get mad. I think they also came to believe that I did not have a "real" job.

EP Advice:

Make sure that you can meet and exceed the parameters you have set with the company you are working for. I have been on both sides of this where people take on more than they can handle to the detriment of all.
