Primary Market: Moms throughout North America

Mission Statement: To provide top-quality counsel to moms seeking part-time solutions to their work-family needs.

Mission Accomplished: "So Thank You. Without your help, I never would have had the confidence to even think of trying something like this! I am extremely excited right now, but have a lot of work to get done. I hope this gives you a good feeling too. You are definitely very good at what you do." (Excerpted from letter of mom who just received approval on a new telecommuting arrangement.)

Clients: Strictly confidential!

Home Career Goals: I hope to continue to expand my telephone counseling/coaching practice.

Home Career Defining Moment: I am so fortunate to be in a line of work where getting "thank-yous" is a frequent occurrence. I love it when my clients land a new job or start a new business. One of my favorite moments this past week was hearing from a client who successfully negotiated a wonderful part-time telecommute arrangement and even got a raise in the process!

A Voice of Experience

EP Motivating Force:
After becoming a mom, I realized the amount of flexibility I wanted was going to be hard to find working for someone else. Also, after returning to graduate school, I realized that if I wanted to specialize in counseling moms seeking part-time employment I would need to develop that practice on my own.

EP Musings:
One of the great features of being an entreprenurial parent is there is no typical working day! I adjust my schedule as needed to accommodate my personal needs. Sure, there are times when I have to work evenings or weekends. But, the trade-offs are worth it without question!

EP Advice:
Be patient! It takes a while before the business starts to roll in and that can be very frustrating.

Spend time early on thinking hard about a type of business you would really enjoy working on. Working on your own takes discipline, energy and patience so finding work you love is key to success.
