  • Proficient in Word Perfect, Excel, MS Word, Windows 95, etc.
  • 12 years administrative experience.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to handle heavy workloads.
  • Creative ability to adapt to new environments and circumstances.
  • I am a very detailed-oriented person.
  • I am driven by a very positive, friendly attitude.
  • I have a very analytical mind that makes it easy for me to adapt to new ideas as well as new computer programs.
  • I am very organized and have a terrific memory that will help answer client questions about past reports, letters, presentations, etc.
Home Career Defining Moment: I have been planning to start my business for six months before I actually made the move and I have been really working hard to get the word out that I have a home based secretarial business. I have been talking to friends, relatives and people in the business world. Finally, last week, I got a call from a former employer to do some work for him. Although it was a small job, I was still thrilled to get my FIRST job!

Home Career Goal: My immediate needs are more clients as well as larger projects. I realize that it takes time to build your business and to get clients but these are my present needs. I would like to have some business clients that would give me ongoing work whether it is large or small, but just clients that would return to me because of my performance in getting their job completed on time if not ahead of time.

Target Market: I am starting out targeting businessmen and businesswomen who are visiting my area, offering to prepare any type of administrative work from presentations to letters to manuals. I would also like to target businesses that are downsizing but still need good administrative support. I am willing to work for anyone in need of my services.

A Voice of Experience

EP Motivating Force: I started my own work-at-home business because I was laid off for the fifth time and I am tired of working for a company only to be laid off again. I could see this coming six months before it actually happened and I planned for it ahead of time.

EP Musings:
The positive traits that I am handing down to my children, I feel, are the knowledge that they too can be business owners. They have seen how I have struggled from job to job only to be laid off again and now they are seeing that I am making something positive out of it and hopefully showing them that they too can accomplish this. I will be able to help them with my knowledge and experience and maybe make things a little easier on them.

EP Advice:
It takes a lot of time and energy to start your own work-at-home business but if you put in the time and effort, you will be rewarded in the end. You need to plan ahead and for me at least, I had to pick the right time of the year to start my business when I would be able to commit all my time and efforts into building my business.
