seeking advice on affiliate programs

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can advise me about how I can become an
affiliate member for an on-line store. I know that Amazon.com has anaffiliate program and there are hundreds more that offer this kind of
service Does it cost you any money to become an affiliate? How difficult is
it to become an affiliate?

If any of you with an on-line store already have experience becoming an affiliate of Amazon.com or any other popular shops, please give me some
advice.

I'd really like to start on this!
