THE FUNNY THINGS EP KIDS SAY & DO!

=====
Submitted by EPnews Subscriber, Debbie Williams, EP Mom to David, age 4
(mailto:Debbie@organizedtimes.com):

Last month my column, Organized Times, was picked up by another distributor,
ZDTV's "Working the Web." I was doing the happy dance, and my son was
twirling with me in my office. When he asked who I had been on the phone
with, I told him "ZDTV." He ran out of the office, down the stairs, and came
back with his Dad's Rubick's Cube, changing it to read "ZDTB, ZDTB, ZDTB!!!
(Now who says branding doesn't work?!!!)

=====
Why work at home? So you can hear the funny things your EP Kids say
throughout the day. Share with the EP Community something your child said or
did recently that made you smirk, giggle, or LOL. Send your submission via
e-mail to:epideas@en-parent.com.

And if you need a stockpile of smiles to get you through your EP day, pick up
your own heartwarming copy of Grace Housholder's "The Funny Things Kids Say."
On those stressed-out EP days, you'll be glad you did!

MEDIA INQUIRIES & OPPORTUNITIES FOR EPs

Lisa Roberts is working on 2 articles for a national business magazine and is
currently looking for:

** Telecommuters. In this tight labor market, companies are having a tough
time recruiting and retaining valued employees. Headhunters and HR managers
are trying everything -- and telecommuting programs are high on the list of
HR strategies. If you are an employee who has recently been hired with the
promise of a telework arrangement, or have decided to stay on with your
current job only because a teleworking program was implemented, I would LOVE
to talk to you!

** Someone who was recently a victim of an Internet scam. If you lost money
by "investing" in a fraudalent biz opp or was promised more than you were
delivered, I need to speak with you ASAP ;-)! Can keep your name or the
company's name confidential if you wish.

Email: Roberts@en-parent.com for either of the above.

=====

Jeff Zbar, our own "EP Work-at-Home Dad Expert," is looking for the following
profiles:

* Taking a bigger HO Deduction. Have you increased the size of your home
office so you could take a larger tax deduction?

* Killer Customer Service. How do you provide good customer service and build
lasting customer relationships? Also: A sidebar on Making your home office
conducive to meeting with customers. Getting a separate business line for
customers, and dedicating space if you must have meetings in your home
office. Need by Friday, July 14.

* Temps in vogue. Anyone know of a temp worker out there who used to have a
hard time finding solid assignments, and now has more than s/he can handle?
Need ONE - plus an expert in the field. Need ASAP.

Email: jeff@goinsoho.com for any of the above.

========

EP OF THE MONTH

Shari Rosen Ascher & Maggie Sisco, or "Team Shaggie"
http://en-parent.com/Profiles/Shaggie.htm

Every month we highlight the achievements of one of our newly registered
members by selecting them as our "EP of the Month." As we review our new
member forms, we take a look at business names, niche markets, special PR or
advertising techniques, innovative products or services, and other types of
unique business practices.

This month we chose Shari Rosen Ascher, EP to 2 children, ages 3 & 6, and her
partner Maggie Sisco, EP to 2 children, ages 4 & 6. Shari & Maggie have been
a job share team for two companies and are so in sync professionaly that
they like to refer to themselves as "Team Shaggie." (That's how they answer
their phone, respond to email, etc.!) Their company, ShareGoals, LLC, at
www.sharegoals.com, is a full service job share consulting company that works
with both management and employees to help make job sharing a win-win
proposition for everyone who wants to give it a try.

Since we love the whole concept of job sharing and "sharing goals" -- both
professionally and personally -- we're happy to have found another advocate
of work-family balance, and pleased to have "Team Shaggie" as members of our
EP Community.

<begin round of applause>

Please welcome "Team Shaggie" by viewing their Profile Page at:
http://en-parent.com/Profiles/Shaggie.htm

and/or sending them a welcome message at:
mailto:Team_Shaggie@interep.com

</end round of applause>

To All -- Please Note: We now hand out an "award" graphic to our EPs of the
Month, which can be prominently displayed on the winner's home page or "press
room" page. We also continue to offer our selected EPs a FREE Profile Page at
the EP Showcase and a photo link from our home page all month. So please
spread the word among your friends, colleagues and email loops -- invite the
EPs in your life to join en-parent.com as a registered member, and let's
build the EP Community together!

EP TIMES -- AN EDITORIAL

EP Times is taking a break this month in favor of introducing you to our NEW
SITE!! EP & NAEP now have a new "home" -- please take a fresh look at our
over 450 pages of information, camaraderie and resources -- at:

===> http://en-parent.com

Want to help us make en-parent.com THE Internet "hub" for Entrepreneurial
Parents worldwide? Please help us spread the word through your own favorite
ezines, discussion groups, web sites, message boards and the like. If you're
at a loss for words, here's a summary of what we're about:

"The Entrepreneurial Parent (tm) is dedicated to promoting the home office as
a family-friendly workplace for all parents looking to balance work and
family on their own terms. Entrepreneurial Parents are an emerging workforce
trend -- 11.7 million strong in the U.S. alone -- and the Internet is
enabling the EP Community to unite, strengthen and grow. For news,
membership, resources and inspiration, it's been www.en-parent.com for EPs
since 1998!"

Thanks all for your loyal support and patience while we rolled out "Version
2.0" of en-parent.com. deB and Lisa have tried their best this past school
year to develop a user-friendly, fun and useful site for you to visit,
explore, learn and make vital contacts through. We do hope you like it but
would love to hear your feedback one way or another. Anything specific you
love or hate about the new site? Inquiring minds want to know ;-)! Send your
opinions to editor@en-parent.com and we'll take a close look to see if
changes need to be made. Thank you!!

MAKING MONEY MATTERS

Being available to your kids and managing a career under one roof sounds to
many like the best of both worlds, but without pulling in some kind of income
what's all the effort for? Making Money Matters! Let's hear how YOU earn your
keep as an EP. This month we're out of interviews, so feel free to use the
survey below to send in your submission. Please keep in mind that this column
is here to spark marketing ideas for the already-established EP, not a venue
to recruit aspiring EPs into a business opportunity, so no MLM or packaged
business opportunity submissions please. Just copy, hit reply, and fill out
the survey below, or mailto:editor@en-parent.com with the subject heading
"MMM Survey." Thank you!!

=====
1. In a 2-3 sentence statement, explain what your home business is about,
including your target market and "mission statement."

2. What are the most popular products and/or services you sell? How much do
you sell them for (or what's your hourly rate), and how did you find the
right price/fee schedule for them?

3. What are *your* favorite products and/or services? Why do you like to sell
them?

4. Tell us a bit about your marketing campaign. When did you start noticing
your first sales (after which marketing technique), what marketing efforts
have you noticed yield the greatest results, and how do you make your first
contact and subsequent sales (via online, phone, fax, mail, face-to-face)?

5. Any additional comments are welcome.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT EP

---> New Features @ en-parent.com:

1. Membership Automation (!!)

Remember when you first signed up with The Entrepreneurial Parent? It might
have taken you a few minutes to fill out the form, but we must admit it was a
manual and tedious process on our end to add you to our database and get your
listings up on the appropriate web pages. Now members of the EP Community can
join or update their listings automatically (yahoo!). This is good for you --
new members will be listed within 24 hours in most cases -- and certainly
good for us!

We are currently converting our nearly 1,000 registered members to our new
system, so if you don't see your name up yet don't worry -- it's coming!
Meanwhile, you can take a peek at what our new Business Directory currently
looks like at:

http://en-parent.com/directory

And all members are invited and encouraged to update your listings at:

http://www.en-parent.com/links2/cgi-bin/add3.cgi

Don't be left out of this excellent and far-reaching referral tool -- readers
and new members often tell us that when they're in need of a product or
service they'd prefer to turn to a fellow EP over a Fortune 500 company any
day!

2. EP Teleseminars.

Nancy Collamer, an EP Expert and Coach, is conducting our first Teleseminar
for aspiring EPs entitled, "How to Find the Perfect Home Career for You." Our
EP Home Career Counseling inquiries indicate that finding a legitimate and
rewarding home career is the most difficult challenge for new EPs. If you may
be one, come join us in September & register now!

To learn more &/or register, go to:
http://en-parent.com/seminar.htm

---> EP in the News!

** It's out -- the July/Aug issue of "MyBusiness" (the print magazine of the
National Federation of Independent Businesses / NFIB, with 600,000 readers),
features Lisa's "Favorite Bookmarks." Curious? She selected:

www.emkf.org -- as a springboard to several of the best entrepreneurial
resources on the web (latest news, stats, info, contacts, etc.).
www.poorrichard.com -- for smart advice on low-cost web utility options
www.funnykids.com -- an ever-inspiring source on why she should spend more
time with her kids!
www.jugglezine.com -- for intelligent, thought-provoking commentary on
work-family issues

** Maryland Women (Summer, 2000), wrote:

"Web Support for Entrepreneurial Parents: At times, work-at-home parents may
feel isolated and out of touch as they try to maintain a balance between
their work and family. An Internet resource, The Entrepreneurial Parent, may
help such parents get more connected. This site...provides support to parents
who have chosen to bring their career home." (There's more, but that's the
intro!)

** Lisa was interviewed yesterday by a reporter for "Business Week" and was
told that EP had also been recently mentioned in "Ladies Home Journal"!
(Anyone see it? I missed that one!)

** Your Business Today, a radio show hosted by James Rasmussen of the
Minnesota News Network (MNN), recently aired a program about "The
Entrepreneurial Parent"

Want to get "in the news" too?! Read the Media Inquiries above...and enjoy
spreading the word about matters that matter to you...

And stay tuned EPs -- it's a fun & bumpy ride up ahead and you're all invited
;-). An "EPnews Flash" with exciting news should arrive in your mailbox in
the next week or two -- keep your eyes open! And in the meantime, don't
forget to schedule in a trip to the beach, pool, water park or some other
such fun with your kids this week... Have fun!
